Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

Happy Independence Day!

It's Independence Day for India. To me, that means our ice cream on the way home from work was 10 rupees instead of 12! hollah. Tuan and I are going to hit up McDonalds for dinner and then out to the bars for some celebration of the holiday....

We started painting today. It went pretty well except that it's hard to paint on walls of an orphanage full of kids who like to put their hands into anything! One kid went back to the blue boat like 3 times. And then we found out we were using oil based paint so he'll have blue hands for awhile. And there's an albino kid, the blue shows up nicely on his face...Sister didn't give us any more tasks today because she was upstairs all afternoon watching Ben Hur with the kids. I walked into the room and all of the kids were so focused on the movie! They never focus on anything! I was really surprised. Maybe there's more to Ben Hur than I thought before.

That sums up my day! Hope all is well in the states. Peace, Corina

Well Corina, here's the good news:

I returned your movie to blockbuster and today is the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Here's the bad news:

A ginormous tractor came to our street and ate all of our blackberry bushes : ( No more cobbler, I guess... frickin'. Next weekend I'll be with family at Mt. Adams, picking what is quite possibly considered the best berry in the world -- the huckleberry. Maybe it makes for good cobbler. We'll see.

Oh yeah, and good job with the blog layout. It used to be "And where there is sadness, a doom and gloom colored blog." Now I can see the joy part.
