I think one of my favorite things at the orphanage is that the kids that can talk call you Auntie. I love it when they yell "Auntie auntie!"
4 children were adopted this morning from the other orphanage! It was so beautiful to see them at Mass this morning with their new parents. If anyone wants a hook up let me know, I have a couple of great kids picked out...
Tuan and I drew the outlines for the murals today. We did one of jungle animals, but it shames in comparison to the one that mom did on Lexi's wall...amazing! Tomorrow we will start painting.
I showed 3 French men around Daya Dan today. One of them spoke a tiny bit of English and I can count to 7 in French. You can imagine how the day went...actually, it was pretty fun. Anything with French men is : ) And this on guy from Spain who I thought was kind of a jerk because he NEVER smiles said hi to me just now as I passed him going into the internet place. I got asked to teach in the classroom because I am one of the few that can speak English. So instead of doing physical therapy I will be teaching reading and writing. Should be fun!
Tomorrow is independence day here so I am looking forward to even more commotion in the streets! I didn't think there was room for anything else to happen, but apperently this place really comes alive for the holiday.
Tuan and I booked our tickets to Darjeeling for the 17th through the 20th. I am really looking forward to that break. it's about a 12 hour train ride but Tuan said it is so worth it. The Himalayas are going to be spectacular!
Louie and Jess~ I'm happy to see that you made it home okay. Have fun working! Jessica, I found a Buddha pendant that was pretty cool, but when I picked it up it was really light and I thought you might like something with more weight so I will keep looking. If I can't find anything else I'll either get that one or some other beautiful jewlery that they have here.
Does anyone use Himalaya products? They sell them here and I guess they are really expensive in the states.
That's all for now, just another day. One week down and I haven't gotten sick! No Maleria yet : )
Peace, Corina
Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Auntie Auntie!! I almost forgot how good it was to hear that. You'll have to take pictures of the mural when it's done. Happy Independence day!
